Board of trustees

The board of trustees have overall responsibility for the management of the charity. The board is the primary governing body. The trustees work collectively as a board and take decisions at formal board meetings, which happen several times a year. Occasionally, the board may set up sub-committees that focus on particular areas of work or projects which support the charity’s objectives.


Dr Kanayo Umeh

A chartered psychologist, senior lecturer and health researcher at a U.K university. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has published numerous journal articles on health and behavioural risk factors.

Dr Sunday Adaji

A GP registrar at a busy health centre. He has held previous appointments as a Clinical Lecturer within an NHS hospital trust, WHO consultant, and a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology.

Dr Samantha Brooks

A Reader in Cognitive Neuroscience. Previously, she worked as a lecturer for six years in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Cape Town, South Africa. Her research interests include neural factors in appetite control.

Dr Julie Abayomi

A Reader in Dietetics. She has worked as an NHS dietitian for over 20 years, specialising in women’s health and nutrition for 12 years. Her research interests include overweight and underweight in pregnancy, and diabetes, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.

Mrs Francisca Ikeme-Umeh

A member of the accounting team at a leading UK engineering firm that distributes compressed air systems to the North West of England and North Wales. She has a first-class degree in accountancy.

Miss Jo-Anne Puddephatt

A Research Assistant at a leading UK university. She has a background in health psychology and currently works on various projects on addiction and appetite, health inequalities, and food choice.

Obi Umunna (MBA, BSc)

A Project Management Consultant who specialises in analysing, facilitating and managing diverse project requirements, driving the governance of Business and IT change initiatives across public and private sectors.
