The trust supports various activities geared towards the following strategic goals, all of which aim to alleviate comorbidity and multimorbidity in BAME adults diagnosed with diabetes, by promoting primary and secondary prevention strategies.

Preventing disease
Alleviating comorbidity and multimorbidity in BAME diabetes patients, through primary prevention strategies (e.g. vaccination programmes)

Detecting disease
Improving the management of comorbidity and multimorbidity in BAME diabetes patients, through early detection (e.g. diagnostic testing).

Raising awareness
Raising awareness of the importance of prevention and early detection in the management of comorbidities in BAME adults with diabetes.

Understanding comorbidity
Understanding how primary prevention and early detection can help reduce the higher comorbidity burden in BAME populations.

Developing interventions
Supporting development of new primary prevention and early detection methods for tackling comorbidities in BAME diabetes patients.

Tackling inequality
Supporting initiatives that improve primary prevention and early detection of comorbidities in BAME diabetes patients from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Engagement
We support initiatives that encourage BAME engagement with NHS programmes to prevent or facilitate early detection of diabetes comorbidities (e.g. vaccination programmes)
